delete

2014-18

Dual screen video installation, 9 min. 50 sec., 2 spinning chairs, 2 back projection screens.

Delete was shown in Nature as Data at Jing’an Sculpture Park, Shanghai, China, 2018 and in Anne Haaning's soloshow 2014 solo show in the historical exhibition halls of Kunsthal Charlottenborg in 2014.

Delete is a video installation based on the interaction between two types of memory: the human and the digital.

The spinning chairs in the work are intended to provide an interactive counterpart to the traditional benches in exhibitions. For the audience, the chairs function as mobile devices for impromptu editing of video material, itself incorporating a range of digital representations of the chairs.

Delete underlines how pervasive and blurred our relationship with the digital world has become: how our perception of representation, space and reality isn’t only limited to the tropes of the physical and sensory, but evolves, also, from what we experience in the digital sphere.
